NORTH SEA STRING QUARTET

Feldwerk

Our second EP is the result of a journey through different musical fields and genres, broadening our horizons and stirring our imagination. Aside from compositions that are influenced by Irish and Canary Island folk music, we’ve included our very first arrangement of African music.
In contrast to these folk tunes, you will hear compositions that show another side of the quartet: intimate and sensitive storytelling.

The pieces Drifting and Indecisive set off in the wandering mind of a dreamy character. An intense love story is being told in Snow Suite, a three-part composition with influences from Turkish, rock and contemporary classical music.
Lastly, this EP contains two snippets from a 30-minute free improvisation we did at the end of the recording session. Through these fragments you will hear our funky and playful side.
